Today, Friday April 29th, Ekokem in Kumla had visitors from the European Technical Working Group, who will prepare the ground for best available technique for waste incineration. The delegation is responsible for preparing the amended EU-document that will regulate best available technique for waste incineration, with the aim to protect the environment.
The Swedish EPA invited the delegation to visit two reference plants in Sweden, one in Linköping and then Ekokem plant in Kumla. The incineration plant was presented and demonstrated for the visitors. The delegation showed special interest in the use of the efficient abatement technique for the flue gases. Ekokem also described the control system for operating the incineration plant, reception control of waste and the on-site laboratory and how the company work to achieve sound environmental protection.
- It´s inspiring that our plant is considered to be a reference plant in the development of the best available technique for waste incineration in the EU. In the circular economy it is important that hazardous substances are efficiently taken out of the material cycles to ensure high protection of the environment and human health, comments Kalle Saarimaa, VP Ekokem AB.
